West Newton Elementary Instructional Plan for January 25-29, 2021

January 21, 2021

Greetings Wildcat Families,

All West Newton students will continue with virtual learning for the week of January 25 – 29, 2021. All students are expected to login daily from 7:45 am – 2:00 pm.

In addition to our virtual learning model for the week, please note the following updates:

  • Parents of PK-5th grade students may request a device by contacting their child’s teacher. The homeroom teacher will email you the request document. West Newton has a limited supply of devices and hotspots.

  • Students who are not able to login during the week will complete a learning packet with direct instructional support from a West Newton staff member. Students will return the packets once they return to the building for attendance purposes. Please contact the front office for a learning packet at 770-385-6472 (Mrs. Kauffman).

  • Device pick-up time:

Friday, January 22nd: 8:00 am – 11:00 am and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

For an appointment or tech support please contact Alex Picard at 770-784-4992 or email wnes-techsupport@newton.k12.ga.us

  • Contact classroom teacher via email, phone, or ClassDojo for any questions.

  • FREE Breakfast/Lunch for in-person students will be available daily at West Newton from 11 am – 1:00 pm (please pick-up in back of the school near bus ramp). Virtual students will continue to receive meals via their assigned bus route stops.

  • Attendance: All students must be present for online instruction in order to be counted present for the day. Students with learning packets will return them once students return to the building for attendance.

In closing, if you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school at 770-385-6472 or Principal Green.

Best Regards,

Ms. Leah Green, Principal

West Newton Elementary School (WNES) is pleased to announce the winners of our first ever Virtual Science Fair held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. After much deliberation and careful review, the winners are Ayan Tariq (Grade 5) and Seynabou Biteye (Grade 5). This dynamic duo's question was, “Does the type of material a car is wrapped in change the distance the car travels?”  These students will now move on to represent our school at the Virtual NCSS Elementary Science and Engineering Fair beginning January 11 and ending January 22, 2021. We would like to recognize the hard work of all the students who participated in the Science Fair. Also, we'd like to  give a special thank you to all the parents, teachers, and judges for their support in making this event a success.
